One of the coolest things I have read in a while is this post on the relation to bird coloration and their physiology. My intrigue in the post is two-fold. First is the design aspect, because the link is to a design based blog rather than one focusing on science. However, I find the science aspect much more intriguing.
How cool is that though? Bird's appearances have always been known to cause a significant affect on the fitness of the individual. The better you look the more you mate. Simple. But to think that feather color actually effects the physiology of the bird is pretty awesome. It's also something I may have to do a lot more looking into. I may even have to strike up a conversation with the all-knowing Dr. Denbow about this.
If I get into Physiology and Anatomy that is. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
